PRACTICAL SUPPORT

We understand that with an unintended pregnancy, there is often a need for practical and emotional support. Our Support Coordinators can journey with you throughout the pregnancy and beyond. We are able to help you with baby clothes, equipment and referrals to other organisations, so that you are able to be as equipped as possible (physically and emotionally) for parenthood. Each situation is unique, so we would discuss and assess how best we could be of support to you.

HELP is available for you

There are a bunch of great organisations who are able to provide practical, emotional, informative, and financial help, where we may not be able to. We recommend checking them out below, and utilising their services where needed.

  • SANDS  (support for baby & infant loss)

Sands is a voluntary, parent-run, non-profit organisation set up to support parents and families who have experienced the death of a baby at any stage during pregnancy, as a baby or infant.

  • Find out about what financial assistance you may be able to receive. Work And Income can help you financially if you're on a low income or not working, support you into work, and help you with housing.

  • If you need immediate support and information if you are dealing with a violent situation. Women's Refuge is New Zealand’s largest nation-wide organisation that supports and helps women and children experiencing family violence.

  • For parenting advice and support. Plunket is a charity and Aotearoa’s largest support service for the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau.

  • To help you to decide if adoption is right for you. The Adoption Option aims to improve the awareness of current adoption practice in New Zealand.

  • If you're in need of legal services to meet unmet legal needs in the community. Community Law lawyers and caseworkers hold legal clinics in most suburbs of our big cities, so that every person in New Zealand has equal access to free legal help, no matter where they live.

  • For practical care services that includes budgeting, counselling  and free legal advice on family law issues, among others. WP Lifecare Trust weave care services around people in our community, supporting and helping them grow holistically whilst on their journey towards health and wellness.
